R.I.P. Alan Merrill, the co-writer of I Love Rock 'n' Roll, who died of COVID-19 yesterday at the age of 69. Merrill, born Allan Preston Sachs in The Bronx in 1951, wrote what would become the biggest song Joan Jett ever recorded when he was in a band named the Arrows in 1975. It was the #1 song in the country for Jett for nearly two months in 1982. Merrill also worked with Rick Derringer on three albums in the 1980's and put out a self-titled solo album in 1983 that Steve Winwood and Mick Taylor played on.
Joan issued a statement yesterday that read in part, "I can still remember watching the ARROWS on TV in London and being blown away by the song that screamed hit to me. With deep gratitude and sadness, wishing him a safe journey to the other side."?

Pearl Jam postpones tour over Covid-19 virus concerns

To date, we've seen very few concert or tour cancellations due to mounting concerns over the Covid-19 situation. A big one was announced yesterday when Pearl Jam pulled the plug on their spring North American tour that was due to launch next Wednesday in Toronto.
The band's notification read in part, "As residents of the city of Seattle, we've been hit hard and have witnessed firsthand how quickly these disastrous situations can escalate. Our kids' schools have closed along with a number of universities and businesses. It's been brutal and it's gonna get worse before it gets better"...
"We have and always will keep the safety and well-bring of our supporters as top priority. So it is with deep frustration and regret that we are forced to make this most unfortunate of announcements."

Hey everyone, Mike here ???????????? On Sunday night my doctors discovered some health issues which while fully treatable, need to be addressed before going out on tour. The good news, well really it’s great news, is that I’m going to be just fine. The bad news, and I say this with much frustration, is the tour which was scheduled to start next week will need to be postponed and rescheduled for September.  Subsequently, we’ll also need to postpone the album release until September 18th. We can’t be at New Orleans’ Jazzfest this April but the already announced shows from June onwards with Chris Stapleton and Zac Brown Band will go on as planned. ???????????? ???????????? ???????????? If you bought tickets to any of our headline shows, they will still be good for the rescheduled dates which are listed below. If you are unable to make the new date, you can obtain a refund at your point of purchase and we hope to see you another time soon. I know that many of you made plans to travel to the upcoming shows and I’m so sorry that those plans have been upended. However, health is the most important thing and I want to bring you the best show possible. I truly appreciate everyone’s understanding. The Knobs and I are eagerly looking forward to seeing you and sharing more music with you, just a bit later than we had hoped. ???????????? With love, Mike ???????????? ???????????? ???????????? SEPTEMBER: 9 – The Orpheum, Tampa 11+12 – High Dive, Gainesville 14 – Brooklyn Bowl, Nashville 17 – World Café Live, Philadelphia 22 – Birchmere Music Hall, Alexandria 24 – Brooklyn Bowl, Brooklyn 26 – Tupelo Music Hall, Derry 27 – The Ridgefield Playhouse, Ridgefield 30 – Brighton Music Hall, Allston ???????????? ???????????? ???????????? Schon and Cain have apparently kicked the drummer and bass player out of the band, citing in a suit filed yesterday that the 1998 agreement they entered into with former singer Steve Perry gives them the legal right to perform as Journey "with or without anyone else".
