An instrument expected to outpace the bidding on everything else in the Julien's auction of Dusty Hill's' belongings sold for far more than expected this week. The 1953 Fender Precision bass the ZZ Top member acquired at a Dallas pawn shop for just $70 early in his career drew a winning bid of $393,700, making it the 2nd highest price ever paid for a bass. Paul McCartney's Yamaha BB 1200 went for close to $472,000. Former Rolling Stones bassist Bill Wynan's Fender Mustang got bought for $384,000.
