U2's Songs Of Experience came close to being a posthumous release for the group's frontman. Bono tells Rolling Stone in the magazine's January issue that he had what he characterized as a physical extinction event and that, having survived it, feels like he is "the f%#@ing luckiest man on Earth." Bono did not provide any specifics about the episode but his reference to it included the possibility it would result in a "fast exit" suggests it may have been a cardiac or stroke related incdient. He's had some rough years physically, starting with the 2010 spinal injury that required brain surgery and a 2015 bicycling accident in New York City that resulted in fairly serious injuries.
