Keith Richards armed himself before going to score drugs.  The Rolling Stones guitarist reportedly told AnOther Man magazine that he often carried a gun when he was buying drugs during the years he was using heroin.  He graduated from a Luger he bougtht in New York City to a Smith & Wesson .38 Airweight revolver, of which he remarked, 'that is the fucking gun.  No safety on it.'  His days packing heat are behind him, but Richards says he usually has a knife on him.
