Friends and fans in and around the Vancouver town Little Feat drummer Richie Hayward lives in have been with him on the front lines since news of his battle against liver cancer broke (story). Fund raisers have been held in Courtenay, BC to help Hayward, who has not lived on Vancouver Island long enough to benefit from Canada's nationalized health care.  Stateside musicians and friends are doing what they can too.  Jackson Browne will do a benefit for Hayward in Hollywood tomorrow (10/4).  Others have opened their hearts and wallets to help, including George Thorogood.
