Julian Lennon was conspicuously absent from other offspring and family members of the Beatles seen during the CBS tribute marking the 50th anniversary of the group's first appearance on the Ed Sullivan Show. Asked about the telecast, Lennon said he wished everyone well and sent his love but said, '...the last thing I wanted to do was stand in the audience with everybody else, clapping my hands, and being filmed in front of millions while watching a Beatles karaoke session'.
