Police tie Stones-Bowie sideman to heroin and Hoffman

Robert Vineberg, who played saxophone on Rolling Stones and David Bowie recording sessions under the name Robert Aaron, has been arrested in New York City and was charged Wednesday (2/5) with intent to sell heroin. Police allege that a phone belonging to the musician had actor Phillip Seymour Hoffman's number in it.  Hoffman was found dead with a needle in his arm on Sunday in his New York apartment.  Four arrests were made at the Mott Street apartment and three of the phones seized had the actor's phone number in them.  Police have not concluded whether any of those arrested will be implicated directy in the sale of heroin to Hoffman.  Vineberg's step daughter told the Daily News that her father had fallen on hard times, saying, 'He got into this because right now he couldn't find any work - anything. This is the only thing he coud think of. He couldn't even find work wshing dishes.'  If convicted, Vineberg could draw a 25 year sentence.
