Musicians honor Gregg Allman

A sold-out crowd of fans gathered at the Fox Theater in Atlanta Friday (1/10) for a night that featured more than two dozen songs performed in tribute to Gregg Allman.  All My Friends: Celebrating the Songs & Voice of Gregg Allman was captivating from Come & Go Blues, the opening number delivered by departing Allman Brothers Band guitarist Warren Haynes with help from ABB & Rolling Stones keyboard player Chuck Leavell, through an encore that featured a shoulder-to-shoulder cast of musicians spanning the width of the stage for Will The Circle Be Unbroken. Between, the crowd and musicians were treated to versions of One Way Out by John Hiatt, Widespread Panic doing Wasted Words, Allman joining Taj Mahal on Statesboro Blues, Dr. John taking on Let This Be A Lesson To Ya, Devon Allman, Jimmy Hall and Robert Randolph teaming on Can't Lose What You Never Had and many others.  Gregg re-emerged to do Melissa with Jackson Browne and Zac Brown and Vince Gill on Midnight Rider. He remained for the encore with fellow members of the Allman Brothers doing Dreams and Whipping Post befroe the all-in version of Circle ended the evening.  The evening was recorded for future release.
