Some weeks ago, we passed along word that this original painting done by future Pink Floyd member Syd Barrett when he was just 15 was heading to auction. At the time, we expressed some surprise that the expected sale value for still life watercolor and pastel painting titled Orange Dahlias in a vase was pegged at just $7,000. With good reason, it turns out. When the gavel fell, the winning bid was just over $42,000 - a figure much more in line with what we figured a well heeled, art collecting Pink Floyd fan might pay for such a rare item.
