July 8 & 9, 1972 an estimated 200,000 descended on Pocono Raceway in rural Pennsylvania for a festival that featured a number of lesser known groups on the opening day and night and a much better known lineup day two, when ELP, the Faces with Rod Stewart and Ronnie Wood, Humble Pie with Peter Frampton, the J. Geils Band and Three Dog Night played.
