An online press conference provided the virtaul setting for the announcement that the Who will mount a North American tour performing the 1973 double album Quadrophenia in its entirety. The opening six week leg of the tour begins in Sunrise, Florida November 1 and will resume in Southern California with a January 28 show in Anaheim. Founding members Pete Townshend and Roger Daltrey will be joined by Pete's brother Simon, Zak Starkey on drums, Pino Palladino on bass, and keyboard players Chris Stainton and Loren Gold.
Tickets to a canceled 1979 Who concert at the Providence Civic Center will be honored at the same venue (now the Dunkin' Donuts Center) on the tour's closing night. That original date was canceled by the Mayor of Providence over safety concerns after eleven fans at a general admission Cincinnati Who concert on the same tour died during a crowd stampede.
