Bob Dylan awarded Nobel Prize in Literature

Bob Dylan has won the Nobel Prize in Literature.  The Thurdsay (10/13) announcement commending Dylan for "having created new poetic expressions within the great American song tradition" make the singer/songwriter the first American to receive the honor since author Toni Morrison earned it from the Sweedish Academy in 1993.  The award puts Dylan in the rare company of masters of the written word, including John Seinbeck, William Faulkner, Gabriel Garcia Marquez and Rudyard Kipling, something we suspect will have greater meaning to him than the Grammys he has earned.  His selection as the Nobel laureat also means Dylan will pocket close to a million dollars.
