Epic Night Of Stones Music In New York

A collection of musicians that includes Jackson Browne, Ian Hunter, Marianne Faithful, Steve Earle, Rich Robinson of the Black Crowes, Marc Cohn, Art Garfunkel, Taj Mahal and Ronnie Spector gathers at Carnegie Hall Tuesday (3/13) to render versions of every song on the Rolling Stones Hot Rocks: 1964-1971 compilation.  While a list of who has selected or been assigned what song has not been released, Steve Earle revealed to Billboard that he will take on Mother's Little Helper because it is the first song he learned to play guitar to, and Rosanne Cash apparently tweeted recently that she and Lovin' Spoonful veteran John Sebastian will take on Gimme ShelterFaithful will likely do As Tears Go By, a song she recorded for her 1965 debut album. That leaves 18 other songs in the wind - and us wondering who put together the list of performers, which seems as unlikely as the choice of venues for a concert celebrating the music of the rough and tumble, hell raising band.
