Bowie Cover Shot Commemorated

The spot in London where the cover photo for David Bowie's 1972 album The Rise & Fall Of Ziggy Stardust And The Spider  From Mars was taken will soon have a plaque commemorating the shoot.  The ominous sky that appears behind the title letters accounts for why Bowie, in his Ziggy Stardust jumpsuit, is the only one in the photo.  Other band members decided the weather looked to scary to venture out.  The plaque on Heddon Street will be the latest in a series of London markers for distinguished fictional characters in UK culture.  Others earning the honor include Sherlock Holmes and Lara Croft.
