Bob Seger Covers Tom Waits

A version of the Tom Waits song Downtown Train will make an appearance on the new studio album Bob Seger plans to release later this year.  Seger recorded the song in the 80's, but made the mistake of mentioning how much he liked the song to Rod StewartStewart recorded it too, releasing it before Seger could get his record out.  Seger figures it's about time his version saw the light of day. Waits came to the attention of a lot of Rockers when the Eagles covered his song  Ol' 55 for their 1974 release On The Border.   Neil Young will induct Tom Waits into the Rock Hall Of Fame in a couple of weeks (story).
No title or release date has been set for the new Seger album.  The Motor City Rocker plans to finish it up between legs of his current tour, which has been adding dates at a good clip since first being announced a few weeks ago.
