Steve Miller got the honor of doing the opening concert at the Moody Theater, the new hosting venue for the Austin City Limits show that airs on PBS affiliates.  A full house joined the Steve Miller Band for a set filled with lots of fan favorites. A good size crowd unable to score tickets to the grand opening event for the theater that is around twice the capacity of the previous site was able to enjoy the concert on a pair of large-screen monitors set-up outside of the W Hotel on 2d Street during a block party in the city that takes pride in presenting great music just about every night of the year.  Why Miller, who was born in Wisconsin, got the honor of the opening concert instead of a Texan may  have been a burr under the saddle of some Lone Star State music fans.
