A guitar Eric Clapton played during his 70th birthday concert at London's Royal Albert Hall was donated to former Asleep At the Wheel guitarist Johnny Nicholas by EC to help him offset medical bills incurred when his wife was stricken with Leukemia.  The custom made sunburst Stratocaster was auctioned for $45,000, just about double the expected top bid.  Brenda Nicholas passed away from the disease in June.
