Who, Jeff Beck Crank It Up For Charity

A cancer treatment benefit event in London Thursday (1/13) brought together an impressive and unlikely combination group of musicians.  Members of the Who, guitarist Jeff Beck, Blondie leader Debbie Harry, Brian Adams and Richard Ashcroft performed during the event at the Hammersmith Apollo to raise funds to support Photodynamic Therapy, a cutting edge treatment with the potential to knock-out cancer cells in a single session.  Roger Daltrey delivered an unexpected acoustic take on two songs The Hooters included on Largo, a recording inspired by the New World Symphony by DvorakJeff Beck, backed by Who members sans Daltrey and Townshend, did blistering versions of Hammerhead and Beck's Bolero, followed by A Day In The Life.  He then accompanied Harry on Blondie's Heart Of Glass and Call Me.  The Who set featured Baba O'Riley, Who Are You and Won't Get Fooled Again, after which Pete Townshend yielded to Beck, who joined Daltry and the others on I'm A Man.  The night closed with Harry, Adams and Townshend returning to the stage to wrap things up with Join Together.
