Lennon Abbey Road Garb Sold

The white woolen knit suit John Lennon wore as he and other Beatles members strode across Abbey Road in August of 1969 for the cover photo of the album bearing the street and recording studio's name was bought by an unidentified collector for $46,000 during a New Year's Day auction.  The same internet bidder paid $18,000 for the jacket Lennon had on when a video of Imagine was filmed as he played the song on his white grand piano.  The auction gallery in Norwalk, Connecticut was packed with a combination of the just curious and serious collectors.  The bargain of the sale was something far less recognizable - a 1972 Chrysler Town & Country station wagon Lennon and Yoko Ono bought so they could cruise the streets of New York on occasion without drawing attention to themselves.  The auctioneer described the olive green vehicle as the couple's "incognito van".  The beater and its 1980 registration sticker got picked-up for just %5,500.
