Stronger Heart For E Street Drummer

Sax player Clarence Clemons had surgery not long after the Bruce Springsteen world tour wrapped up (story).  What hardly anyone outside of a very tight circle knew until Thursday (10/7) was that E Street Band drummer Max Weinberg also went under the scalpel last winter. Speaking during an interview with Fancast.com about the HBO premier of The Promise, Weinberg said, 'I can make a little news here, which I haven't talked about to anybody', before revealing that he had open heart surgery in February.  The operation to repair a damaged valve the drummer first learned he had more than 25 years ago lasted almost 4 times longer than a than the typical marathon Springsteen set, logging in at close to 12 hours.  Weinberg said that he is feeling 'a thousand percent better', and wonderful about where he is, 'physically, personally, professionally', countering anyone contending he is disappointed not to be anchoring the house band for Conan O'Brien when his former other Boss premiers his new late night show on TBS (story).
