Noteworthy Now

Unlike the 1991 Oliver Stone movie based very loosely on the Doors, When You're Strange: A Film About The Doors provides a genuine chronicle of the band using archival footage and true events instead of actors relying on a script many said was a product of Stone's imagination fueled by his own fantasies. Actor Johnny Depp, an avid Jim Morrison fan, jumped at the chance to narrate the movie, which earned praise at the Sundance Film Festival and will open in theaters the week of April 9. Doors keyboard player Ray Manzarek, a vocal critic of the Stone movie, gives this one a big thumbs up.  Manzarek and fellow Doors veteran Robbie Krieger will tour Europe this summer doing Doors songs backed by symphony orchestras.
