Bruce Springsteen issued a statement disavowing any involvement actions ASCAP, the music licensing organization, is taking against a New York City bar that featured a band that covered three E Street Band songs during a recent performance.  The New York Daily News had linked Springsteen to its coverage of the pending legal action this week.  A statement issued through a publicist says that ASCAP was 'solely responsible' for the suit against Connolly's Pub and Restaurant and that Springsteen was not asked to participate in the suit, 'would not have agreed to if he had been asked' and subsequently 'demanded the immediate removal of his name from the lawsuit.'
