Grammys Marginalize Rock

The Grammy Awards Sunday (1/31) was so full of smoke & mirrors it's little wonder most musicians are so cynical about the annual industry schmooze fest.  Jon Stewart's jokes making light of the event and some of the ego centric celebs in the house went over like Lady GaGa at a bluegrass festival.  Elton John opened with a bizarre duet with her Bon Jovi did a medley, Green Day performed with the cast of a new musical, and Dave Matthews played.  The only Classic Rockers on stage were Jeff Beck, brilliant in a brief tribute to Les Paul, Leon Russell, who sat in with the Zac Brown Band, Stevie Nicks, guesting with Taylor Swift, and presenters Carlos Santana and Ringo Starr. Grammys went to Green Day (Rock Album), Bruce Springsteen (Solo Rock Performance), Neil Young (Best Box Set), Jeff Beck (Rock Instrumental), Kings of Leon (Rock Song), and hard rock and metal awards went to AC/DC and Judas Priest.
