Behind the scenes at last November's Classic Rock Roll of Honor event in London, Joe Perry reportedly talked with Bad Company vocalist Paul Rodgers about stepping into Steven Tyler's role in Aerosmith. Classic Rock Magazine reports it has confirmed the approach, saying Perry asked the magazine's editor to introduce him to Rodgers. Another magazine staffer at a table next to the pair claims he heard Perry issue the invite for Rodgers to join Aerosmith. Paul's range might not seem like the best match for the material until you consider how well he did on Freddie Mercury vocals during his stint with Queen. Still, taking the job of a legend that's alive is a lot tougher than accepting an offer from band mates of one who is dead. A known entity taking the place of Tyler still seems like a lose/lose proposition for the band, fans and anyone willing to do it.
