Joe Perry has weighed in on where things currently stand with Aerosmith, and they seem not to have changed from where things stood before Steven Tyler went into rehab.  Speaking with Darryl Sterdan in an interview on the Toronto Sun web site, Perry reiterated that the band has had virtually no contact with Tyler, and that plans to audition singers to fill-in or replace him are still on the table.  He maintains that Tyler still faces leg and foot surgery that is likely to keep him sidelined 'about a year and a half'.  The guitarist declined to identify any candidates the band might be considering to fill Tyler's shoes, but did say he feels comfortable calling the band Aerosmith with or without Tyler in it.  Tyler, and a lot of Aerosmith fans, might take issue with that.
