Joplin's custom painted Porsche up for bids

RM Sotheby's gets the opportunity to auction one of Rock's most iconic vehicles in December when the 1965 Porsche that Janis Joplin had a custom psychedelic paint job done on goes up for bids.  The New York sale could produce a top bid in excess of $400,000 for the once simple white sports car that Joplin purchased in 1968.  Unlike some exotic cars that musicians drove only on special occasions, the eye catching convertible was driven extensively by the front woman for Big Brother & The Holding Company. Joplin's sister says, 'Janis drove the car everywhere' in the San Francisco Bay Area and that the car also accompanied her to Southern California when she was recording in LA.  The one-of-a-kind Porsche has been on display at the Rock Hall Of Fame in Cleveland for 20 years.  It is one of 30 uniquely adorned cars being featured in the Driven by Disruption auction being conducted on December 10.
