Stars out for Sting's Broadway debut

The Last Ship, a musical revolving around shipbuilding of old in England, opened Sunday at the Neil Simon Theater on Broadway.  The former Police front man described watching it as, '...an out of body experience' for him. Reviews were generally favorable but some critics voiced disappointment. Variety's critic said, 'Melancholy tones of sorrow and regret saturate' the play, while Kyle Anderson of Entertainment Weekly wrote that the musical, '...trots out a series of dirges that lack the dynamism necessary to keep audiences fully engaged'.  Among the opening night crowd for the musical that tells the story of a crew of unemployed shipbuilders that take over a former factory to build one last ship were Billy Joel, Robert DiNero, Bruce Springsteen and Deborah Harry.
