Pearl Jam has done some stripped down but powerful versions of I Won't Back Down in concert. Now, PJ guitarist Mike McCready has recorded a version of the Tom Petty anthem with KT Tunstall to raise money for his band's Vitalogy Foundation.

The Pearl Jam lead singer took to the sidewalk outside Wrigley Field to join a couple of street musicians on a version of his band's song Courduroy Friday (9/15) and was at it again on Sunday, that tim sitting in on drums.

Right in synch with the start of MLB's post season, Pearl Jam is releasing a concert film and companion CD of the group's 2016 concerts at Wrigley Field on September 29. Devout Cubs fan Eddie Vedder has equated walking into the historic ballpark with '...stepping into Oz.' Director Danny Clinch commented, 'In my films and photographs, I love to explore the relationship between a band, their fans and the location. When it happens that the main characsters are Pearl Jam, the Chicago Cubs, their fans, and Wrigley Field during a historic moment, you know it's going to be epic.' The 17 song set includes Vedder's Cub rally song All The Way and a cover of the Beatles I've Got A Feeling.

Fans at the Sunday night (7/23) Roger Waters concert at the United Center in Chicago got the added benefit of seeing Pearl Jam front man Eddie Vedder join Waters on Comfortably Numb and Us + Them. It was Vedder's first appearance with Waters since the pair teamed-up during the Hurricane Sandy benefit at Madison Square Garden 12-12-2012.

When Theo Epstein was inexplicably cut loose by the Red Sox, the team and its fans lost one of the most brilliant front office minds in the modern-day game and one of the hipper musical guys in the national past time. Beantown also saw cool charity event he and former Boston Globe sports guru Peter Gammons staged in Boston while Epstein ran the club relocate to Chicago after the Cubs landed Epstein. Gammons and Epstein decided to bring the event back to Boston this spring when the Cubs visited Fenway Park for the first time as the defending World Champions. As he has in the past, Eddie Vedder, one of Rock's most avid baseball fans, headlined the event. The Pearl Jam front man delivered a set than included songs from his own band, the Rolling Stones, Bruce Springsteen, the Who, the Talking Heads and Aerosmith. Epstein joined in on a Buffalo Tom song.

A Chicago concert Thursday (5/14) to raise funds for Teen Cancer America brought Pete Townshend, Eddie Vedder, Joe Walsh and Joan Jett together for a 17 song set of Who classics including Won't Get Fooled Again, Eminence Front, The Kids Are Alright and Summertime Blues, along with a cover of Pearl Jam's Better Man.
