In a most unusual tribute to Ozzy Osbourne, the members of Metallica included an acoustic rendition of Diary Of A Madman during their set at the MusiCares benefit concert honoring Osbourne with the Stevie Ray Vaughan Award. During a night that saw the band joined by Slash, Metallica also performed covers of Deep Purple's When a Blind Man Cries, Rare Earth's I Just Want To Celebrate and In My Life by the Beatles. Metallica issued a statement saying, 'It's no secret that Ozzy has been a major presence throughout our entire lives and we are so humbled and honored to be with Ozzy for this special evening.' The award Ozzy picked-up recognizes him for his effort and support for programs to help musicians get and stay off drugs.
