Tom Petty plots summer release

Hypnotic Eye, a new album of material from Tom Petty & The heartbreakers should be out this summer.  The 11 track release has been a work-in-progress since the summer of 2011.  Petty tells Rolling Stone the album marks a return to an edgier sounding time int he band's history, noting, 'We hadn't made a straight hard-rockin' record, from beginning to end, in a long time.'  While getting Hypnotic Eye out is his top priority, Tom also hopes to release an expanded edition of his 1994 solo release Wildflowers before Christmas.  The song in the group of 10 bonus tracks Petty wants to include on the reissue that has him most excited is one he professes to not even remember writing. He calls it '...uptempo but very unusual' . Also possibly in the works is a live release culled from the group's New York and LA residencies in 2013.
