Tom Morello wants solo to be 'the Hendrix of now' (video)

Tom Morello, who plays on most of the songs on High Hopes,  the album Bruce Springsteen releases Tuesday (1/14), has signed on to fill-in for Steve Van Zandt on Bruce & his E Street Band's upcoming tour of Australia.  The former Rage Against The Machine and Audioslave member has also been developing songs for a new solo album of his own, one he wants to qualify as, '...the craziest guitar record that anyone's ever heard.' Morello says the potential of merging what he calls his 'folk singing' with the kind of intense electric guitar he is best known for dawned on him when he first did the electrified version of The Ghost of Tom Joad with Springsteen.  How far does he aim to push the envelope?  He tells Billboard that he wants the music he's making to be thought of as, '...the Hendrix of now'. Morello plans to begin recording it in March.
