Starting Tuesday (1/8), Peter Gabriel fans of the Apple persuasion will get the opportunity to create their own remixes of songs from his 1986 release So. The MusicTiles app was created by Professor Henril Lund and includes both the original mixes of songs from the album as well as electronica and industrial versions that can be deconstructed and reconstituted using modular tiles on iPhones, iPads and iPods. Gabriel says he likes empowering those on the receiving end of his music to reinvent his songs, saying, '...music and art should be fully open media from which no-one is excluded', so that creativity is not, '...the exclusive province of the high priests armed with 'Talent'. Plenty of Gabriel fans using Android devices will hope that Peter sees to it that it is not also the exclusive province of Apple users.
