Hotel California was conjured up as a place in the song about the state of California and the a state of mind of some of its trend setters by The Eagles. The band is now reportedly suing an actual hotel over its use of the name the of title song on the group's landmark album of 1976. The Hotel California Todos Santos in Baja, Mexico has apparently referenced itself as simply "Hotel California" is some of its marketing, and produced merch that the band's suit contends misrepresents the establishement as being associated with the song.
