Guernsey's has the honor of auctioning a guitar it last sold for nearly a million dollars in 2002 to a private collector that wants them to offer it again to raise money for the Southern Poverty Law Center. Custom built by Doug Irwin and presented to Jerry Garcia in 1973, 'Wolf' became a cherished instrument to the Grateful Dead guitarist. First played by Garcia in concert during a set the band played for the Hell's Angels in '73, the guitar became an iconic instrument to Dead fans throughout the world. The auction will take place in May at the Brooklyn Bowl in New York. Telephone and e-mail bids will also be accepted. Those interested in attending or bidding can learn more at www.guernseys.com.
