Butch Trucks dead at 69

One of the monster drummers in Rock has passed away.  Butch Trucks of the Allman Brothers Band died of undisclosed causes Tuesday (1/24) in West Palm Beach, Florida. A founding member of the legendary Southern Rock group, Trucks and Jai Johnny Johnson provided the driving rhythm that was a hallmark of the band's signature sound.  Since the Allmans disbanding in 2014, Trucks had been performing in Butch Trucks & Very Special Friends, a group that morphed into Les Brers with Jaimoe and other ABB veterans.

Trucks leaves behind a wife, four children and an equal number of grand children.  A band spokesman asked for privacy for the family and suggested donations in his memory be made to The Big House, the Allman Brothers Band museum housed in the group's former communal home in Macon, Georgia.
