Abbey Road Reverse Photo Sells

Abbey Road had a flip side.  It turns out that the photo used for the album cover had one too. Forty Three years after Iain Macmillan snapped the Beatles trekking along the intersection crosswalk during the cover shoot, another picture he took showing the band members crossing the street in the other direction brought a top bid nearly twice as high as experts had estimated it would during an auction Tuesday (5/22) in London. An anonymous collector forked over nearly $31,000 to take possession of the print.  Another thing distinguishes the photo from the one chosen for the cover of the landmark 1969 release:  Paul McCartney was barefoot in the cover photo - something that stoked rumors that he had died and was replaced by a look and sound alike.  He is wearing sandals in the reverse photo.
