Saturday (5/26) would have marked the 72d birthday of former Band drummer/vocalist Levon Helm.  A performing arts center in the Hudson Valley had a big birthday concert in store for him this year, but Levon passed away when a recurrence of the throat cancer he was diagnosed with years ago claimed his life on April 19th.  Helm's Daughter and his former manager have decided instead to hold another Midnight Ramble, the name given the weekend concerts Levon had been so fond of staging and attending in his Woodstock studio during the last few years of his life.  Word spread quickly and tickets were all claimed within a very short time of going on sale for the event that will feature Amy Helm and members of Levon's group and the Dirt Farmer Band. As was the case with plenty of past Rambles, other musicians are sure to drop by.
