Pete Townshend Tells Who He Is

Some of the genius of Pete Townshend's ability to portray conflicted characters in his songs comes from first-hand experience.  Now in his 66th year, the Who member is prepared to tell his own story, and to do it with a level of detail that could go a long way toward helping fans understand him.  Townshend has been in various stages of pulling his story together for the book for better part of the last decade.  Set for an October release, Who I Am is expected to include accounts of abuse he suffered as a child while being raised by his maternal grandmother, his frequently stormy relationships with band mates and his struggles to overcome substance abuse.  The book also promises to include plenty of inside accounts of highpoints in the life and his 50 year career in one of the most influential bands in Rock history.
