Bigger Crime Than Petty Larceny

Tom Petty faces the prospect of touring without one of his favorite axes, his 1967 Blonde Rickenbacker (serial # GH3747), one of five instruments stolen from a Culver City, CA rehearsal hall the Heartbreakers were using to gear up for a US tour that kicks-off next week.  Also nabbed in the break-in were Petty's Gibson SG TV Junior (serial # 318533), a 1967 Epiphone Sheridan, a Fender Broadcaster, and a custom Mike Campbell model guitar.
The band is offering a $7,500 no questions asked reward for information that leads to the return of the instruments (StolenGuitars@TomPetty.com).
It's almost certain an APB is out to auction houses, pawn shops EBay and Craigs List, and a posse of Petty fans is sure to be keeping eyes open and ears to the ground, so it's our guess the thief or thieves will either be caught or get smart and use the e-mail above to let Tom and the band know where to get the guitars back.
