Young Wants To Upgrade Audio

Tradition and innovation are as dear to Neil Young as music. His newest project is driven by elements of both.  Young has railed against the sacrafice of audio quality that results when music is saved in the mp3 file format. Now, he is rumored to be preparing to introduce a higher fidelity alternative. Rolling Stone magazine is reporting that Young is securing several trademarks on names that could be intended for a HD file format and/or streaming service. '21st Century Record Player', 'Thanks For Listening' 'Earth Storage', "Ivanhoe' and "SQS (Studio Quality Sound)' are identified by RS as being on trademark applications recenly submitted by Young.  The Rocker is also an active proponent of Pono, a cloud based service being developed as a high-end  alternative to the highly compressed quality audio that is the current online standard.
