Gregg Allman Sidelined By Back Trouble

A herniated disc problem forced Gregg Allman to miss the last night of the Allman Brothers Band's annual run of dates at the Beacon Theatre in New York City.  Pain had caused the keyboard player to exit late in the group's second set on Saturday (3/24).  We first learned that the ailment had flared up in a Twitter post from Blues Traveler. Allman was reportedly briefly hospitalized and it was decided that the condition would prevent him from being able to participate in the closing night of the multi-night series.  Warren Haynes broke the news to the audience gathered for Sunday's finale.  Fortunately, Gregg Allman Band keyboard player Bruce Katz was in town to do a guest slot with the band and was able to fill-in for GreggHaynes took over lead vocals on songs during the set usually sung by Allman.
