Doobie Bros. Drummer Silenced

The man that provided the beat behind some of the Doobie Brothers best songs has passed away.  Michael Hossack joined John Hartman, the band's original drummer, in 1971 and  drummed on China Grove, Listen To The Music, Black Water and several other fan favorites during the period that produced Toulouse Street, The Captain and Me and What Were Once Vices Are now HabitsHossack parted company with the band in 1974, but rejoined for a reunion concert honoring Vietnam Vets in 1987 that went so well it convinced the group to return to the studio and the road. The drummer died at his Wyoming home on Monday (3/12) from complications related to the cancer he had been diagnosed with in 2012.
