Producer Jack Douglas reportedly floated the idea of recruiting author Stephen King to write the lyrics for the Boston band's comeback album. It might not be far-fetched. The suspense-horror king is a hard rock fan, owns a Bangor, Maine rock radio station, recently collaborated with John Mellencamp on a musical, the Ghost Brothers of Darkland County, and shares a passion for the Red Sox with members of the group. Still, the band apparently shot Douglas down. The album, which Douglas and band members say will have a much stronger appeal to early Aerosmith fans than several of the pop laden albums of more recent times, should be ready for a spring release. Aerosmith is currently plotting a North American tour for the summer and fall.
