Pete Townshend's recent claim that he wishes he'd been a solo act instead of a member of the Who made the faint prospect he would appear with Roger Daltrey at the Childrens Cancer Trust benefit in Royal Albert Hall Thursday (3/24) even dimmer. But appear he did, if briefly. Townshend joined Daltrey on Acid Queen and Baba O'Riley during a set that included the entire Rock Opera Tommy. Daltrey took a moment during the set to pay tribute to John Entwistle, saying that the late bass player was a better singer than most people realized. Entwistle, the lead singer said, '...always had the loudest voice. He had the voice of an angel' before dedicating a song to him and the troops serving in Afghanistan.
