Rodgers Almost In Doors

Surviving members of The Doors wanted Paul Rodgers to take over lead vocals after the death of Jim Morrison but could not find him, according to an account the Free and Bad Company vocalist recently gave Uncut magazine.  Rodgers says he only recently learned that the southern California band wanted to recruit him but gave up after nobody was able to locate him. The soon to be lead vocalist for Bad Company had moved to a remote spot in the English countryside.  Rodgers says his 'jaw dropped' when he learned that Robby Krieger, Ray Manzarek and John Densmore had tried to find him to fill the role.  Would he have taken them up on it?  Rodgers says, 'It's hard to say, looking back. But I think not. I tend to form bands.'
