U2 Finally Confirms Glastonbury

The final 2011 Glastonbury festival headline slot finally got confirmed when U2 announced during the NME awards that they will fill the headline role that Bono's back trouble last year prevented them from taking on.  The confirmation came by way of a video from The Edge, who also congratulated the organizers of the annual event that, as the guitarist put it, is, '...more a way of life than a festival.'  Reports U2 would make-up for not having been available last year have been circulating for months.  The Rolling Stones had also been rumored to be considering an appearance (story), but have since stated that no 2011 concerts will take place.  The festival was assured of success with or without either band: tickets sold out before a single act had been announced. U2 will play Glasto on June 24.
