The reason Steven Tyler is unavailable for Aerosmith recording sessions is no secret. But there is a lot of conjecture about why Joe Perry has not joined the other members of the group as they develop material for the next album in a California studio.  Using the previous commitment excuse without further elaboration has made many wonder if the guitarist's failure to join Joey Kramer, Tom Hamilton and Brad Whitford is just a case of him holding out for the sake of getting some extra attention and not coming off as any less critical to the group's future as most seem to consider Tyler.  The three in on the sessions say they miss them both, but neither absence from the sessions has gotten in the way of coming up with some songs the three are confident fans will think are solid Aerosmith songs.
