Gerry Rafferty Passes

The former manager of Gerry Raffery has confirmed the death of the Scottish artist that had success in the early-mid 1970 while a member of Steelers Wheel and scored a huge radio hit with the song Baker Street off his 1978 solo album City To City, a song that generated upwards of $125,000 dollars in annual royalty payments.  Despite the monetary rewards, the singer had little good to say about the music industry.  In an interview with the Sunday Express two years before his death he called the business '...something I loathe and detest.' His self-imposed exile from performing and recording was accompanied by a rapid decline in health reportedly due to alcohol abuse. We learned last fall that the 63 year-old singer had taken a serious turn for the worse (story).
