U2 Seeks Redemption

Songs Of Ascent, a new album by U2, is expected to be ready for release before the Irish Rockers return to US concert stages in May, according to manager Paul McGuinness.  The band has already played several new songs expected to be on the album in concert.  Some accounts say the group was disappointed that No Line On The Horizon, the heavily hyped album U2 released in March of 2009, sold less than half the number of copies its 2004 album had sold. McGuinness recently leveled blame at the internet services for allowing file sharing to undermine album sales. Our take: recent albums by the band would have comparatively poor sales even without file sharing. They just haven't been very good.  And the new songs we have heard to this point have not convinced us the next album will fare much better.
