Van Morrison Gets Injunction Issued

Van Morrison has managed to get an injunction to prohibit publication of a newspaper story the Irish singer contends mounted to an unreasonable invasion of his privacy.  A Belfast high Court sided with Morrison, ruling that photographs in the story of the singer, his home and a business associate that was the subject of earlier press claims alledging that she was carrying Morrison's child exceeded '...the margin or appreciation aallowed to a free press'.  The court stopped short of issuing a broader restriction on the News Of The World covering less detailed aspects of Morrison's off-stage life.  The singer maintains that almost all matters relating to his private life should be off limits to the media and the public as a whole, saying, 'I have made considerable efforts to protect my private life and I have refused to be interviewed about it, to comment on it or to authorise (sic) others to do so, save in very limited circumstances when a bare minimum of information is required to prevent or minimise (sic) harm from the repeated attempts of others to publish allegations about my private life'.  A reporter for the World claims that the article content amounted to what he described as a low level intrusion, and included no details about the relationship between Morrison and Gigi Lee.
